Edwin J. Tenhagen, 86, of Burlington, passed away Sunday, February 11th, 2007, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in Union Grove. Born in Burlington on Feb 22, 1920, he was the son of the late Henry and Amelia (Jacobs) Tenhagen. He lived in the Burlington area his entire life, receiving his education in Burlington schools. On February 20, 1942, he entered the United States Army and was honorably discharged November 12, 1945. He served in Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He received the American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon/w 4 bronze battle stars, 3 overseas service bars and one service stripe, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. On December 1, 1945, he married Eleanor Pechacek in Burlington. He was a Mason working for various Masons in the area. He then owned and operated Ed's Masonry for 17 years, retiring in 1984. Edwin was a member of VFW Post in Burlington and enjoyed flying, snowmobiling, golfing and motorcycle riding. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor of Burlington; two daughters, Sandra (Larry) Bauman of Burlington and Debra (Tim) Gusho of Oconomowoc, WI; three brothers, Fritz (Rita), John (Betty) and Ralph (Betty) Tenhagen, all of Burlington; a sister, Jean (Dan) Kusterman of Lake Geneva; five grandchildren, Heather Silverman, Shannon & Ryan Bauman, and Lucas & Logan Gusho; four great-grandchildren; Branden Bauman, and Zachary, Cassandra & Lacey Silverman. He was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 19th, at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove at 11:00 am with full military honors.
