Santina BUTTERI
Santina Butteri, 98, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 18th, 2007, at Brookside Care Center. Born November 1, 1908, in Morrovalle, Prov. of Marcerata, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Anna and Nazzareno Maolo. She married Alessandro Butteri on February 23, 1930, and came to America the same year. He preceded her on April 15, 1977. She was outgoing, loved laughter, gardening, cards, picnics and gatherings with friends. She was acknowledged as a great cook and worked at many of the church festivals. She loved God, her family and her friends. Santina was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Holy Rosary Sodality, Italian-American Ladies Auxiliary (she was honored as Mother of the Year in 1998), Third Order of St. Dominic, Senior Citizen Center and the Jockey Retirees. She worked at Jockey International for 28 years, retiring in 1971. Surviving are two daughters, Olivia (Joseph) Andrea of Kenosha and Lina Haycraft of South Carolina; six loving grandchildren, Alex (Deborah), Martin, Tom (Alla) Andrea and Mary (Gregg) Kishline, Sandra (Larry Begun) Principe, and Frank (Laurie) Principe; and eight great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Kellen, Daniella and Arthur Andrea, Carrie and Michael Kishline, and Michael and Suzanne Principe. She remained close with her surviving brother, Elio, nieces and cousins in Italy. She was preceded in death brothers, Dominico, Umberto and Lauro; and sister, Maria. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 22nd, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Interment at St. George Cemetery will be private. Visitation will be held on Monday at Holy Rosary Church from 9:00 am until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Holy Rosary Church or Brookside Care Center would be appreciated by the family.
