Alfred Harvey THOMAS
Alfred H. "Moose" Thomas, 79, of Kenosha, passed away Tuesday, January 16th, 2007, at Washington Manor Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Viola, WI, on August 30, 1927, he was a son of the late Francis and Beatrice (Carruthers) Thomas. He moved from Iowa to Kenosha where he has lived for the past 41 years. He was in the United States Navy from November 20, 1944, until his honorable discharge on Aug. 15, 1946. He received the World War II Victory Medal and the American Area Ribbon. In 1966 he married Shirley S. (Armstrong) Thomas in Iowa. She passed away October 20, 2000. He had been employed by Chrysler Motors for 32 years, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed sitting on the bench at 22nd Avenue and 54th Street and watch traffic pass by, he made many friends by doing so. He loved to walk anywhere he could. Surviving are his two sons, Duane Thomas of Kenosha and William (Melissa) Thomas of Pleasant Prairie; a daughter, Faun (Tad) Gittins of Franklin, WI; two brothers, Bill Thomas of Blue Springs, MO, and Paul Thomas of Viola, WI; two sisters, Toots Thomas of Brooklyn, WI, and Ann Thomas of Blue Ridge, GA; five grandchildren, Christopher, Alexis, Brandon, Maci and Mia Thomas; and also several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Marion Thomas. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 19th, at Proko Funeral Home at 2:00 pm. Interment with full Military Honors to follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. He was so respectful the times I would phone. He was appreciative of time spent.I really enjoyed this experience through the Friendly Visitor Service. Your loss will gradually become mem-ories.
