Donald Joseph PFARR, SR.

Donald J. Pfarr, Sr., 81, of Kenosha, passed away on Saturday, December 9th, 2006, at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie. Born on February 22, 1925, in Kenosha, he was the son of the late Hubert and Ella (Gale) Pfarr. He attended local schools, and was a graduate of St. George grade school, Kenosha High School, and attended Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. He was a lifelong resident of Kenosha and has wintered in Florida since 1988. He was enlisted in the Army Air Corp during World War II. On January 2, 1948, he married Lois G. Anderson. She preceded him in death on February 18, 1987. He then married Shirley (Thomas) Pflug on October 7, 1995. He was the founder and president of State Construction Corp. from 1965 until 1988 and later was the President of Royal Construction. He was a member of Kiwanis Club of Western Kenosha, 306 Club, was a former member of The Kenosha Yacht Club, former board member of The Kenosha Achievement Center, The Shalom Center, and a former member of the Associate General Contractors of America. He enjoyed boating and woodworking. He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Kenosha; four children, Don (Diane) Pfarr, Jr. of Racine, Deborah (Phil) Pharr of Mt. Pleasant, Gayle (John) Collins of Pleasant Prairie, and Scott (Valarie) Pfarr of Silver Lake; four step-children, Charles (Jane) Pflug, Bill Pflug, Carolyn Pflug, and Jim (Michelle) Pflug, all of Kenosha; a sister, Joyce Hempel of Topeka, KS; twin brother, Richard (Joane) Pfarr of Post Falls, ID; six grandchildren, Jeff (Jada) Pfarr, Peter Pfarr, Stephanie Kotsovos, Adam (Kim) Collins, Emily Collins, and Danny Pfarr; two great-grandchildren, Maya and Cody Pfarr; and seven step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Jeffery, on December 25, 1975; a grandson, Christopher Pfarr, on July 11, 2002; and a sister, Jane Ernst in 1964. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 13th, from Proko Funeral Home at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Green Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at Proko Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
