Richard D. Wooden, 70, of Kenosha, passed away Friday, October 13th, 2006, at his residence. Born in La Crosse, WI, on November 29, 1935, he was the son of the late Vern and Violet (LaFond) Wooden. He lived in Milwaukee before coming to Kenosha, after he served in the Armed Forces, in 1959, and has resided here since that time. He was in the United States Navy. On May 5, 1962, he married Barbara Scopel at St. James Catholic Church. He was employed as a mechanic for All Modes Inc., in Park City, IL, retiring in 2003. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, past president of the Kenosha Alpine Club, Navy Club, and was an avid NASCAR fan since he was 16. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and woodworking and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Barbara; three children, Kathleen (Jeff Heard) Wooden, Christine (Thomas) Weiland and John (Michelle) Wooden, all of Kenosha; a sister, Hazel Wren of Houston, TX; twelve grandchildren, Nicholle, Matthew, Christina, Melissa, Ricky, Janelle, Cassie, Rachel, Danielle, Nicole, Alyssa and Tommy; and one great-grandson, Aiden. He was preceded in death by a son, Anthony; four brothers, Harold, Laverne, William and Gerold; and a sister, Lily Sorenson. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 16th, from Proko Funeral Home at 9:30 am. Mass to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at St. James Cemetery.
