John C. Metallo, 80, of Kenosha, passed away on Friday, September 15th, 2006, at Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha. Born June 24, 1926, in Kenosha, he was the son of the late Michael and Concetta (Chiappetta) Metallo. A lifetime resident of Kenosha, he attended local schools. On August 23, 1947, John married Mary Cundari at Presentation Catholic Church in Chicago. John was employed by Nash Motors for 17 years and then by Tirabassi and Sons for 27 years. He served in the Navy during World War II, as a Seamen first class, serving in the Atlantic Pacific Ocean, the Philippines and Japan. He was stationed at USNTC Great Lakes, IL, USS BURKE (APA 65), USS ALEXANDER J. LUKE (DE 577), and USS OKANOGAN (APA 220). He received the American Area Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon - 1 star, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, the Victory Ribbon, and the Points award. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Local Union 113, (formerly known as #237), Journeyman Plumber, Vintage Auto Group, and Packard Clubs. John collected and enjoyed antique cars, such as Packard's. He also loved gardening, traveling, laughing, joking and teasing. He is survived by his wife, Mary; three children, Michael (Karen) Metallo of Kenosha, Linda Metallo of Kenosha, and Peter (Robin) Metallo of Custer, WI; two grandchildren, Joseph and John; and a brother, George (Lois) Metallo of Kenosha. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Nancy Redignonda and Helen Volpentesta; and a brother, Henry Metallo. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 18th, at Proko Funeral Home at 9:30 am. Mass to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Entombment to follow at All Saints Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday at Proko Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
