Alice M. ODEGAARD
Alice M. Odegaard, 93, formerly of Kenosha, late of Hendersonville, NC, passed away Monday, September 11th, 2006, at Brian Center Nursing Home in Hendersonville, NC. Born May 20, 1913, in New Munster, WI, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Sylvia (Hemling) Scherrer. She was educated at St. Alphonsus Catholic School in New Munster. She came to Kenosha in 1933 to make her home. In May of 2002, she moved to North Carolina. In 1933, she married Daniel Odegaard. He passed away November 1, 1954. She then married Joseph Odegaard on September 21, 1957. He passed away December 19, 1985. Alice had been employed by Robinson Drug, Hub Drug. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, St. Peter's Women's League, St. Catherine's Auxiliary and was a volunteer at St. Catherine's Hospital. She is survived by four sons, Daniel (Roberta) Odegaard of Kenosha, Floyd O. (Sandy) Odegaard of Santa Ana, CA, Ronald (Zoraida) Odegaard of Lockport, IL, and Donald (Carol) Odegaard of Etowah, NC; two daughters, Marianne (John) Mikkonen and Marlene (John) Thomas, both of Etowah, NC; a brother, Henry (Irene) Scherrer of Burlington, WI; a sister, Marie (Richard) Halstead of Waupaca, WI; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer, Cyril and Vincent Scherrer; four sisters, Dorothy Hessefort, Cecelia Scherrer, Esther Werwie, and Florence Scott; and a grandson, Michael Odegaard. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 16th, at St. Peter's Catholic Church at 10:30 am. Interment to follow at St. George Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday at St. Peter's Church from 9:30 am until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Four Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care, 571 S. I had the pleasure of meeting Alice many years ago through my Mother, Gen Norton. Alice was a wonderful lady and a great friend to my Mom. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy.
