Richard E. Fanning, Sr., 77, of Kenosha, passed away on Saturday, August 26th, 2006, at Aurora Medical Center. Born on May 4, 1929, in Kenosha, he was the son of the late Edward and Beatrice (Strope) Fanning. He moved to Grand Rapids, MI, where he received his education, moving back to Kenosha with his wife in 1957, and has resided here since. He was enlisted with the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict. On February 5, 1955, he married Alice Ann Karnes at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Kenosha. She preceded him in death on July 15, 1986. He was employed as an assembler for AMC/Chrysler until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the UAW Local 72 Retirees, an avid Packer fan, enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He is survived by his three sons, Richard E. "Rick" (Cheryl) Jr., of Bristol, Lawrence J. (Betty) of Las Vegas, NV, and Brian P. of Racine; four daughters, Leann M. (Dan) Schuster, Maureen A. (Mark) Modory, Erin M. (Jerry) Grimmer, and Richelle T. "Shelly" (Brian) Boslau, all of Kenosha; twelve grandchildren, Joyelle, Stacie, RJ, Corie, Jennifer, Jeremy, Janel, Alice, Jaymee, Sean, Samantha, Kyle; and four great-grandchildren, Oscar, Logan, Josephine and Jaylen. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 31st, at Proko Funeral Home at 10:00 am. Entombment to follow at All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation will take place on Wednesday at Proko Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
