Werner DEY

Werner Dey, 86, of Racine, passed away Sunday, May 21st, 2006, at his residence. Born in Wuppertal, Germany, on October 16, 1919, he was the son of the late Karl and Elisabeth (Hasselbach) Dey. With his mother and two nieces, Erika and Doris, for whom he was legal guardian, he immigrated to the United States and settled in Kenosha in 1955. Werner was a finish carpenter and cabinet maker in Wuppertal. He used his talents in many ways, among them, building nine houses single-handedly. On August 1, 1977, he married Mary Jane Brengelman at St. Mary's Lutheran Church in Kenosha. Surviving are his wife, Mary Jane Dey of Racine; nieces, Erica Thrasher, Doris (Bill) Rasico, Helga (Fredy) Lewan, Giesela (Detlef) Knueppel; a nephew, Werner (Barbara) Klein; and his Godchild, Liesa Klein. Werner gave a father's love to John (Laura) Brengelman, Erik (Siran) Brengelman, Paula Landis, and Ann (Peter) Gray-Shamray, and was Opa to Sean, Alicia and Abby. He was preceded in death by a brother, Karl, and a sister, Lieslotta. Private burial has taken place at Oakwood Cemetery, Kenosha. A memorial service will be held at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Kenosha on Monday, May 29th, at 1:00 pm.
