Marva M. Schleif died at her home in Kenosha on Saturday, May 6th, 2006, at the age of 80. Mrs. Schleif was born Marva Marie Bitney on April 5, 1926, to the late Lester and Edith (Beyler) Bitney in Madison, WI. She met and married Robert Schleif in Madison. The Schleifs made their home in Waukegan, IL, for 30 years where Mrs. Schleif was active as a Girl Scout Leader, and Sunday school and Bible teacher. A skilled crafts woman, she excelled at all kinds of needlework, as well as baking and cake decoration. Following the death of her husband in 1997, Mrs. Schleif moved to DePere, WI, to be near her daughter, Patricia Slottag and her family. In 2003, she moved to Kenosha where her daughter and son-in-law, Nancee and Richard Odegaard, reside. She has resided at Meadowmere Assisted Living Center for the past two years. In addition to her daughters, Nancee and Patricia, she is survived by another daughter, Karen (Peter) Nielsen of San Rafael, CA, and three granddaughters, Lisa Nielsen of Newport Center, VT, and Samantha and Tamara Slottag of Green Bay. Other survivors include her sister, Kay Flach of Greendale, WI, and three brothers, Gerald (Jo) Bitney of Madison, Louis (Bea) Bitney of Mouthello, WI, and Ken (Lucy) Bitney of Escondido, CA. A brother, Donald Bitney, and a son -in-law, William Slottag, preceded her in death. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 12th, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 620 Grove Avenue, Waukegan, IL, at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
