Earl W. Meyer, 81, of Kenosha, passed away, Thursday, April 20th, 2006, at Grande Prairie Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center in Pleasant Prairie. Born August 5, 1924, in Kenosha, he was the son of the late Henry and Margaret (Tennessen) Meyer. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, he was educated in local schools. On March 25, 1943, he entered the United States Army and was honorably discharged January 16, 1946. He served overseas during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and Philippine Liberation. Earl received the American Theater Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, Meritorious Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. On August 3, 1946, at St. Mark's Catholic Church, he married Mary H. Suskiewicz. She passed away July 7, 1994. Earl was employed by Simmons and later with S.C. Johnson Wax for over 20 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church and was an avid Notre Dame and Green Bay Packer Fan. Surviving are his three daughters, Kathleen Wright of Kirkland, WI, Maryann (Michael) Gunderson of Athens, WI, and Barbara (Scott) Hanzalik of Pleasant Prairie; a brother, Richard (LaVerne) Meyer of Kenosha; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his loving dog, Boo. He was preceded in death by a brother, Claude Meyer. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 25th, from Proko Funeral Home at 9:30 am. Mass to be celebrated at St. Mark's Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at St. James Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday at Proko Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
