Frank FATO
Frank Fato, 86, of Kenosha, passed away Wednesday, April 5th, 2006, at Washington Manor Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center. Born May 10, 1919, in Kenosha, he was the son of the late Charles and Rose (Gelsone) Fato. He was a lifelong resident of Kenosha, educated in local schools. He was in the United States Army during World War II entering the service on June 24, 1941, and was honorable discharged on October 31, 1945. He served in Central Europe and Rhineland. Frank received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Battle Stars, one Service Stripe, six overseas service bars and the Good Conduct Medal. On June 26, 1948, in Kenosha, he married Helvia B. Nevala. She passed away August 26, 2005. He had been employed by Simmons Co. for 13 ½ years and later was a machinist at the American Brass Co. for over 20 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of St. Mary's Lutheran Church and the International Association of Machinists. Frank enjoyed golfing (he had two holes-in-one), fishing, and was an avid football fan. Surviving are two daughters, Mary Beth (Robert) Hill of Franklin, WI, and Kathy (Rick Umphryes) Fato of Pleasant Prairie; a brother, Sam Fato of Kenosha; and a grandson, Nicholas Rommelfanger of Pleasant Prairie, WI. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann Fato, and four sisters, JoAnne Fato, Mary Fato, Elizabeth Patterson and Alyce Fato. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 10th, at St. Mary's Lutheran Church at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
