Dorothy J. Ammerman, 84, of Pleasant Prairie, passed away at her home Friday morning, March 31st, 2006. The former Dorothy Jane Strom was born on July 24, 1921, in Kenosha, the daughter of the late Hugo V. and Ann (Gentch) Strom. On October 6, 1948, she married Robert G. Ammerman, also of Kenosha. She was educated in local schools, graduating from Mary D. Bradford High School and the College of Commerce in Kenosha. Prior to starting her family, she was employed in the offices of the Great Lakes Naval Base. Together with her husband Bob, she owned and operated Ambe Laundry and Classic Care Products, Inc. Her fondest memories were of her weekly lunch and shopping excursions, monthly breakfast with friends, traveling, crafts and spending time with her friends and family at their second homes on the Wisconsin River and on Lake Delton. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, The Alons League and The Elks Club in Kenosha. She was also a Cub Scout leader and a member of the PTA. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Robert of Pleasant Prairie; two sons, John R. (Nina) Ammerman of Florida and James A. (Cindi) Ammerman of Mt. Pleasant; and a daughter, Jill A. (Thomas) Brown of Somers. She is also survived by a brother, Robert V. (Genene) Strom of Alabama; and four loving grandchildren, Daniel and Kristy Brown, Amanda Ammerman and Nicholas Babcock. Also close to her heart are her loving nieces and nephew along with their families and their mother, Kathy Strom. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 4th, from the Proko Funeral Home at 11:30 am with interment to follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the Proko Funeral Home from 10:00 am until service time.
