Joan E. Atkin, 85, of Kenosha, passed away Monday, March 13th, 2006, at St. Joseph Home for the Aged. Born July 4, 1920, in Dollar Bay, MI, she was the daughter of the late Arthur J. and Jessie (Alain) Hould. She was a graduate of Osceola Township High School in Dollar Bay. She lived in Detroit, MI, and Champaign, IL, before coming to Kenosha in 1948 to make her home. On July 5, 1941, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Houghton, MI, she married Robert L. Atkin. He passed away October 10, 2000. She was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers of St. Mark's and the Kenosha Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed going to the Casinos and on trips with the senior center. Her hobbies include playing cards, reading, gardening, knitting and sewing. She especially loved being around her beloved great-grandchildren, Colin and Eli. Surviving are two children, Diane J. (Jerry) Thomey and Dale R. (Patricia Potthast) Atkin, both of Kenosha; three grandchildren, Katie Thomey, David (Bane)Thomey and Jeremy R. Atkin, all of Kenosha; two great-grandchildren, Colin and Eli Thomey, both of Kenosha; and a brother, Alan J. Hould of Kenosha. She will be missed by her beloved nieces and nephews and her cat, "Taffy". She was preceded in death by a brother, John A. Hould, and a sister, Marcella J. Ogorodnick.Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 16th, at 10:30 am at St. Mark's Catholic Church. Entombment to follow at All Saint Mausoleum.
