Clarence Leonard NELSON
Clarence L. "Clancy" Nelson, 70, of Kenosha, passed away Wednesday, January 11th, 2006, at his residence. Born November 3, 1935, in Grand Forks, ND, he was the son of the late Lars and Elizabeth (McDonald) Nelson. He was educated in the schools of New Folden, MN. He moved to Milwaukee in 1960 where he resided until 1974 when he came to Kenosha to make his home. He was in the United States Army from May 26, 1955, until his honorable discharge May 7, 1958. He married Jane Goroski on June 16, 1959, at St. Aloyious Catholic Church in Greenbush, MN. He had been employed by Diamond Engineering in Milwaukee from 1960 until 1974, and then worked in public works at Great Lakes Naval Base from 1974 until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, a former member of St. Therese Catholic Church, and a member of the American Legion David Leet Post #552. Clarence enjoyed playing cards, cribbage, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a good cook and was an avid Green Bay Packer Fan. Surviving are his wife, Jane of Kenosha; two sons, Joseph (Kari) Nelson and Anthony (Bonnie Kraft) Nelson, both of Kenosha; a daughter, Heather (Derek Free) Nelson of Kenosha; two brothers, Floyd (Adeline) Nelson of New Folden, MN, and Milton (Janice) Nelson of Grand Forks, ND; two sisters, Sally Fugleberg of Longview, WA, and Shirley (John) Johnson of New Berlin, WI; and three grandchildren, Kacy, Timothy and Karlie Nelson. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Martin; a sister, Evelyn Anderson; and a daughter, Janet Mary Nelson in infancy. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 16th, at the Proko Funeral Home at 9:15 am. Mass to be celebrated at St. Peter's Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Entombment to follow at All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Monday at the Proko Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. American Legion David Leet Post #552 will conduct services at 6:30 p.m. and Parish Prayer Vigil services will be conducted at 7:45 pm.
