Joseph P. Raiter, Jr., 67, of Kenosha, passed away Saturday, December 31st, 2005, at Woodstock Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Pleasant Prairie on July 5, 1938, he was the son of Joseph P. and Dorothy E. (Spence) Raiter, Sr. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, he attended the Orthopedic School and Vocational School. On October 12, 1986, he married Susan Masterson in Kenosha. He had been a bookkeeper in North Chicago, IL, retiring in the early 1980's. Joseph enjoyed dart ball and was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. In spite of his many physical challenges, Joe was an exemplary father and husband who cared more for others than himself. Surviving are his wife, Susan; a daughter, Tracy Raiter of Kenosha; his step-mother, Rose Raiter of Eagle, WI; a step-daughter, Kelly (Dustin) Barr of Germany; a grandson, Matthew Barr; a brother, Lester August Zirbel, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ; a sister, Diane Mockus of Lindenhurst, IL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Sr.; and his mother and step-father, Dorothy and Lester Zirbel, Sr. Joe will be missed forever. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 4th, at Proko Funeral Home at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
