Gail Gear passed away Saturday, December 10th, 2005, after a brief stay at Aurora Medical Center. Gail was born at Ft. Sheridan Hospital in Illinois on Labor Day weekend on August 4, 1948. She grew up in Kenosha and attended Grant Elementary, Washington Junior High, and Bradford High School. With the exception of a brief period of time in California and Tennessee, Gail spent her life in Kenosha. She was active in all aspects of dogs and dog training. She showed champion dogs in both breed and obedience shows. She worked as an owner, breeder and handler of dogs in her own business. She was also a breeder of Irish Setters and Australian Shepherd dogs. Gail was active in the dog obedience community where she studied to be a judge. Gail also liked to decorate her house and yard for all the major holidays. Her wagon filled with pumpkins or sleigh pulled by reindeer could easily be seen by people driving by her home. Gail belonged to the Kenosha Kennel Club, Australian Shepherd's Club of America, Greater Milwaukee Brittany Club, Little Fort Kennel Club and the Burlington Kennel Club. Gail is survived by her two sisters, Marjorie A. Roth of Rochester, NY and Paula (Greg) Sorensen of New Smyrna Beach, FL; her niece, Polly Robinson of Simi Valley, CA; her dogs, Frosty, Corrigan, Fire and Sneaky the cat; her many loving friends, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins from both the Ruffolo and Hicks families. Gail was preceded in death by her mother, Marjorie (Ruffolo) Roth; her stepfather, James E. Roth, and her father, Paul Hicks. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Sunday, December 11th, at Proko Funeral Home.
