Julia Bierdz, passed peacefully at age 87, and took her gentle journey home to the Lord. Born on September 8, 1918, in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Pauline (Fabifka) Chovan. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, she received her education in local schools. On June 8, 1940, she married Peter S. Bierdz at Friedens Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on December 5, 1982. She worked as a machinist at AMC for 30 years, retiring on April 1, 1982. Julia was strong of faith and a devoted Lutheran. She enjoyed "toiling" in her garden and knitting. She loved her dog "Mitzie". She is survived by her son, Dennis Peter (Sandy) Bierdz of Tennessee; daughter, Barbara (William) Venckovic of Kenosha; two sisters, Helen (Clarence) Krueger and Irene (Harold) Cruthers, both of Kenosha; a brother, Donald Chovan of California; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her three sisters, Mildred Rosing, Martha Collins, and Anna Kruty; and five brothers, Emil, Gerald, Walter, Joseph and John Chovan.
