Charles R. Cox, 85, of Lansing, IL, formerly of Kenosha, passed away on Saturday, November 5th, 2005, at the University of Chicago Hospital in Chicago. Born August 16, 1920 in Keokee, VA, he was the son of the late David Crockett and Eliza (Pennington) Cox. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. During World War II he married Ellen Fortino in Bristol, VA. He retired from the Simmons Co. and St. Anthony Hospital in Crown Point, IN. Survivors include his wife, Ellen of Lansing, IL; a son, Dr. David (Lynne) Cox of Munster, IN; a sister, Imogene Carrier of Bristol, VA; three grandchildren, Aime (Jose) Martinez, Angela (John) O'Boyle, and Amanda Cox; a niece, Jennifer Carrier of Bristol, VA; a nephew, Jeff Carrier of Bristol, VA; a brother-in-law, George (Isobel) Fortino of Kenosha; three sisters-in-law, Genevieve Fortino, Carmella Cerminaro, and Esther Lenfesty, all of Kenosha; numerous nieces and nephews in Kenosha and Bristol, VA; and a beloved granddog, Pudget. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 10th, at the Proko Funeral Home at 9:30 am. Mass to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at St. George Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the Proko Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
