Loran Lloyd "Red" Aker, 78, of Kenosha, passed away Thursday, September 29th, 2005, at his residence. Born June 8, 1927, in Foley, MN, he was the son of the late Olaf and Mildred (Larsen) Aker. He spent his early years farming and logging in Minnesota before coming to Kenosha in the 1950's. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. In 1951, he married Dixie Ann Lawrence. He was formerly employed by McWhyte Wire Rope Co. and later American Motors. A former long-time resident of Paris Township, Loran was the ultimate repair/handyman. He built his own home, was a mechanic, and was sought out by family and friends for help and advice. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, music and dancing. He will be missed by family and friends. He was a member of VFW Junker Ball Post #1865 and The Moose Lodge. Loran is survived by two sons, David Aker of Paris and Daryl Aker of Indianapolis, IN; his four daughters, Christine Alby of Kenosha, Holly (Robert) Anton of Waukesha, Dianna (Edward) Graves of Kenosha, and Susan Aker of Kenosha; a brother, Robert (Sandy) Aker of Kenosha; his grandchildren, Angie, Amber, Ashley, Lauren, Alissa, Garrett, Benjamin, Rachel, Adam and Seth; two great-grandchildren, Axel and Gigi; and many other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie; daughter, Lori-Jo; grandson, Alan Alby; and brothers, Virgil and Richard. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 3rd, at 6 p.m. at Proko Funeral Home. Private Interment at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Pine River, MN. I wanted to take a moment to send you some words of comfort.I am a bible student, and have learned much about the subject of death. The bible teaches that death is an enemy, not something that God uses to bring individuals to himself in heaven. At 1 Corinthians 15:26 it says:
