Robert K. Chase, 71 of Pleasant Prairie, passed away Friday, September 23rd, 2005, at his home, surrounded by family and friends, after a long illness. Born in Kenosha on May 24, 1934, he was the son of the late Walter J. and Mary Ann (Miller) Chase. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, he attended Durkee Elementary School, Lincoln Jr. High School, and was a 1952 graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School. Bob later attended Gateway Technical College and received an Associate Degree in Police Science. He was in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, serving in Germany from February 25, 1954, until his honorable discharge on February 15, 1956. He received the Army of Occupation Medal, National Defense Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He then served for 20 years in the Army Reserves, retiring as a 1st Sergeant. He met Joan Jonson in junior high school. They married in Giesen, Germany, on September 8, 1955, where he was serving in the United States Army. After the Army, Bob worked at The Bell Telephone Co. installing telephones. When he was 25, he joined the Kenosha Police Dept. where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant, retiring on January 1, 1997. He was a former Scout Master; he was active in Boy Scouts with his sons, a former member of the Kenosha Elk's Club, Greater Milwaukee Shetland Sheepdog Club, Kenosha Art Association, and an active member of The Kenosha Kennel Club. He was on the Board of Directors of KKC and was active with their yearly shows. Bob enjoyed hunting, camping, and especially fishing. Bob was an avid reader and in recent years loved to work at his computer. Surviving are his wife, Joan of 50 years; four children, David R. Chase of Oak Creek, John W. (Sandi) Chase of Kenosha, Laura M. (Joseph) Kovacevich of Holmen, WI, and Paul J. (Laura) Chase of Kenosha; and grandchildren, Brittany, Adam, Michael, Nicollette, Sarah, Alex, Robert, Hannah, and Nathaniel. He will also be sadly missed by Oregano, Thyme, Sgt. Pepper, Cody, Coriander, and Brett. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mae Sabala, and a brother, William Chase. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 26th, at Proko Funeral Home at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at St. James Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Proko Funeral Home.
