Rose LORBER
Rose (Finkelstein) Lorber, 87, of Kenosha, passed away Tuesday (March 8th, 2005) at Kenosha Medical Center. Born in Detroit on January 11, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Anna (Segal) Finkelstein. Born and raised in Detroit, Rose was an exceptional student. Rose graduated from Northern High School in Detroit at age16. She was employed by Ford Motor Co. during World War II. In 1961, Rose and her family moved to California where she and Sam remained until the 1980s when they retired to Peoria, AZ, and then to Deerfield Beach, FL. During the early years of Head Start, she worked as a teacher assistant in the 1960s, a job she dearly loved. On December 8, 1935, she married Sam Lorber in Detroit. He preceded her in death on February 9, 2004. Rose loved to play mahjong with her girlfriends, traveling to Las Vegas, and visiting family. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. All that knew her said she was kind and loving. Rose attended Beth Hillel Temple in Kenosha. Rose is survived by her son, Albert Michael (Susan) Lorber of Racine; a sister, Florence (Burton) Bloom of Pompano Beach, FL; five grandchildren, Donna Mahoney of Los Angeles, Sarah and Stephen Lorber, both from Racine, and Tina and Toni Lara of Coeur D'Alene, ID; and a great-grandson, Patrick Mahoney of California. Preceding her in death was a daughter, Mara Denise Lara; a brother, Albert Fields; and a sister, Frieda Remer. Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 11th, at 12:00 noon at Machpelah Cemetery in Ferndale, MI.
