Carl Flannery, 81, of Kenosha died Wednesday (September 22nd, 2004) at his home. Born in Pelican Lake on Sept. 4, 1923, he was the son of the late William and Mona (Harris) Flannery. He was educated in Pelican Lake. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from Jan. 12, 1943, until his honorable discharge on Jan. 5, 1946. He was a staff sergeant serving in the Northern Solomons, Philippines and the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater service medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with four overseas service bars, and the Good Conduct medal. On June 7, 1947, he married Mary Jane Palubicki in Pelican Lake. He came to Kenosha from Idaho in 1950. He worked as a crane operator at Anaconda American Brass Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1865. He enjoyed gardening, yard work and flowers. Survivors include his wife of Kenosha; two daughters, Connie (Michael) Burkee of Bradenton, FL, and Brenda (Philip) Wallig of Kenosha; two sisters, Kate Bellomy of Kenosha, and Jean Littleton of Crandon; three grandchildren, Kimm Holthaus, Rob Holthaus and Stacey (Rod) Almaraz; and one great-grandchild, Cade Almaraz. Preceding him in death were five brothers, Clarence, Kenneth, Clifford, Art and Charlie; and two sisters, Marie Sparks and Dorothy Campbell. Proko Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.FLANNERY: Funeral services for Mr. Carl Flannery will be held on Saturday, September 25th, at Proko Funeral Home and Crematory, 5111-60th St., at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at St. George Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Proko Funeral Home. This is Sherri's daughter, Nikki. I am sorry about Uncle Carl's passing. I wish I had been able to stay in contact with him throughout the years. My love and support go out to you and your family. You are in my prayers.
