Henry H. MEYER

1931 ∼ 2004

Henry H. Meyer, 72, of Pleasant Prairie, died Thursday (March 25th, 2004) at his home after a battle with cancer. Born in Kenosha on Sept. 18, 1931, he was the son of the late Helmut and Anna (Heimsoth) Meyer. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, he attended local schools and was a 1949 graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School. He served in the U.S. Army from Feb. 12, 1952, until his honorable discharge Jan. 23, 1954. He was a corporal in the 4th Infantry, serving in Germany during the Korean War. He received the Occupation Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. On Aug. 7, 1954, he married Susan M. Funk at Frieden's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He worked at Lakeway Packing from 1948, until he entered the Army. After the service, he worked at Buehler's Meat Market from 1954 until 1968, first in Racine, then in Kenosha. In 1968, he partnered with B.J. Larson as owner and operator of L&M Meats in Kenosha and Racine. He retired in 1993. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Pleasant, Somers American Legion David Leet Post, and Kenosha Elk's Club. Survivors include his wife of Pleasant Prairie; two sons, Keith (Kathy) Meyer, Kenosha, and Ken (Mari) Meyer of Twin Lakes; a daughter, Lynda (Mike) Dix of Kenosha; and eight grandchildren, Hanni, Cori, Joel, Lucas, Kaylee, Anna, Jarad and Jenna. Preceding him in death was a brother, Hans Dieter Meyer on July 2, 2001. Funeral services for Mr. Henry H. Meyer will be held on Thursday, April 1st, from Proko Funeral Home and Crematory, 5111-60th St., at 9:30 AM. Mass to be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church at 10:00 AM. Entombment to follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park with full Military Honors. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Proko Funeral Home. Somers American Legion David Leet Post service at 6:30 PM Wednesday.
