Obituary for David John Ventura

David John Ventura, 54, passed away on Dec. 20, 2018, in San Diego, CA, due to complications from cancer.
He was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Dec. 30, 1963, to Domenick and Frances Ventura. He attended local public schools, graduating from Mary D. Bradford in 1982, and UW-Parkside in 1987.
In his early years, David worked with the Kenosha Parks Dept as a lifeguard and at Wilson’s Leather, Berman’s, and Thom McCann. His career included working at Eaton Corp in Kenosha and Toyota in both Kentucky and Texas, traveling on a regular basis to locations in the U.S. and Mexico and spending a year in Japan. He was a proud member of the Toyota Spectrum group that promoted and supported employee diversity. He retired in March of 2018.
On June 18, 2016, he married Felix Pangalinan in a ceremony at Petrifying Springs Park in Kenosha.
David was known for his loud voice and his big heart. He loved his family and spoiled each of his godchildren, Kurt, Sam, and Scott with trips after their graduations and more. He often gifted hotel rooms, airline flights, phone service, and his home to family and friends. He had a house in California and a condominium in Texas where guests were always welcome.
David loved to cook his mother’s Italian recipes and bake Italian cookies which he shared with family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all, including his aunt, Frances Ventura, who spent hours making Scalidi with him. He will also be remembered for baking Biscotti. He enjoyed doing home improvement projects and traveling.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Frances Rose (Zarletti) and Domenick Don Ventura.
Survivors include his husband Felix Pangalinan of San Diego, CA; his siblings, Debbie Clemens of Mount Pleasant, Alan Ventura of Milwaukee, Lena (Randy) Bredin of Kenosha, Gary (Michele) Ventura of Kenosha, and Dominic Ventura of Pleasant Prairie; his nieces and nephews, Rachel (Nick) Smith and godchild Kurt (Ashley Baer) Clemens, Todd, Keith and godchild Scott Bredin, Mandy, godchild Sam, and Katrina Ventura, and Abigail Ventura; great-nieces and nephews, Emma, Charlotte, and Asher Smith, Kayden and Roy Clemens, and Elliana Montoya; and godparents Rudy Zarletti and Patricia Ventura.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 11, at Proko Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and a brief visitation on Saturday, Jan. 12th, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 9:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum. Memorial contributions can be made to amFAR or any other accredited Aids Research Foundation.
