Obituary for Bert Sebben

Bert Sebben
Bert Sebben, 89, of Kenosha, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Crossroads Care Center.
Born on May 10, 1929, in Fonzaso, Italy, he was the son of the late Angelo and Maria (Marsiglio) Sebben.
Bert served in the US Army as an Italian citizen. Being allies with the U.S, he was able to gain his citizenship while stationed is Salzburg, Austria, during the Korean War. While in America, he became pen-pals with Ivana Milani in Italy. On his next journey back to Italy, he showed up at her home with a ring. They were married in Loreo, Italy, on August 20, 1956.
Bert was employed at American Motors as a Die Setter for over 30 years until his retirement. He also owned and operated his own small business, S.T. Landscaping, for over 10 years. He was one of the founding Italian members of the Alpine Club in Kenosha and served as its first president. Every Friday night, he enjoyed socializing with his many friends, playing music, bocce, and pinochle.
Like his father, Bert will be remembered as a hard worker and handyman. He enjoyed telling stories and making people laugh, and even recently began writing his own memoir. He had a keen memory of numbers, dates, names, and places, which brought great accuracy to his many tales.
He is survived by his wife, Ivana; two sons, Daniel (Patsy) and Angelo (Nancy) Sebben; a daughter, Lisa (Danny) Rasch; and five grandchildren, Nicholas and Anthony Sebben, and Maria, Monica, and Michael Rasch.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Sebben of the Canossian Daughters of Charity.
Bert’s family would like to thank all of his many loving and helpful caregivers over the last few years, including Hospice Alliance and Society’s Assets.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, June 20th, at Saint Peter Catholic Church, 2224 30th Avenue, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 19th, at Proko Funeral Home, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday morning at 9:15 a.m. Entombment will follow at All Saints Cemetery and Mausoleum with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice Alliance or St. Peter Catholic Church would be appreciated by the family.
